Mounts bring out the beauty of the framed picture

A mount is a thick piece of paper that separates the picture from the frame. This helps highlight the picture rather than the frame and enhances the visual appeal of the framed work of art.

Mounts protect the picture

A mount creates space for air to circulate between the picture and the glass to prevent the temperature fluctuations of the glass from damaging the picture. It is important to choose a quality mount and backing board, as these materials are directly in contact with the picture. For major and valuable works, we recommend choosing an ARTCARE conservation-grade mount.

Mounts help fit the picture into the frame

If you have a suitable frame, but the picture is small, you can cut out a mount to fit the frame with an internal aperture that fits the picture. A new mount will freshen up the picture and your existing frame can be put to use.
